We have been delighted by the success of our topical exhibition, Coronations & Celebrations, which has drawn visitors from far and wide to enjoy some very special collection pieces here at The Fan Museum. May is, of course, the month of the big event that inspired this exhibition, and so here are some updates on what to expect from us over the next few weeks.
Whilst we will be closed on Saturday 6th and Monday 9th May, we will be open in the lead up to the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Our current exhibition boasts items from the last coronation as well as one which dates from the Restoration in 1660 and would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s festivities.
Talking Fans launches its third season of academic talks hosted on Zoom after we started the initiative back in 2021. Each of the three talks will focus on the themes around our current seasonal exhibition. Tickets to attend are offered on a donation basis and can be obtained here.
Our monthly Curator in Residence will occur on Saturday 20th May and will once again feature the talents of Helen Adie, who will be demonstrating her printing and etching throughout the afternoon. Our Curator, Ailsa Hendry, will continue to offer free-to-attend talks in the ground floor permanent display areas. For more information, click here.
As we move closer to summer, we hope to extend our welcome to many more visitors and very soon we will formally announce our next seasonal exhibition which will open on Wednesday 28th June.
